This bill establishes certain procedures for the issuance of a new marriage record when the name of a party to the marriage has been changed. It allows both parties to the marriage to request a new marriage record if a court has issued an order for a change of name for a party. The new record will use gender-neutral language and reflect the most recently established name of the party. The clerk is required to substitute the new record for any existing record and report it to the Secretary of Health. After the record is changed, any certified copy issued will be a copy of the new record, unless a court orders the issuance of a copy of the original record.
