This Memorial congratulates el Rancho de Las Golondrinas, New Mexico's premier living history museum, on its fiftieth anniversary and officially proclaims January 25, 2022, as "El Rancho de Las Golondrinas Day" within the House of Representatives. The resolution highlights the museum's mission to preserve the legacy of the land and Hispano traditions, its establishment in 1972 by landowners Leonora Curtin and Y.A. Paloheimo, and its role as an open-air museum preserving eighteenth- and nineteenth-century New Mexico history, culture, and traditional lifeways on its 500-acre site, which includes a historic stopping place along el camino real, the "royal road" from Mexico City to Santa Fe. The memorial also acknowledges the museum's significant contributions, including welcoming over fifty thousand visitors annually, educating thousands of schoolchildren, engaging guests with hands-on historical activities, relying on over five hundred volunteers, donating produce to feed the hungry, serving as a filming location for movies and television shows, protecting archaeological sites, and its plans for fifty anniversary events in 2022.
