This bill establishes the "Ambulance Service Assistance Fund" to be administered by the New Mexico commission. The fund will provide competitive grants to local public ambulance service providers to assist in the purchase or refurbishment of ambulances, medical equipment, and the required training and certification of ambulance drivers and emergency medical service staff. The bill requires recipients to provide at least 25% non-state funding for the costs of the equipment, training, or certifications, and the commission must certify the applicant has been in compliance with the Ambulance Standards Act for at least the two previous fiscal years. The bill also appropriates $9 million from the general fund to the new fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2023 and subsequent years.
