This bill revises the oversight and reporting requirements concerning cannabis in South Dakota. It amends the existing law to require the Department of Health to report additional details in its annual report to the legislature, including the number of patient cardholders by medical condition, patient demographics, the number and specialty of practitioners providing written certifications, the number of medical cannabis establishments by type, the number of licensing violations, and the number of hospitalizations and emergency room visits related to cannabis. The bill also requires other state agencies, such as the Department of Public Safety, the Attorney General's office, the Department of Social Services, the Department of Education, and the Unified Judicial System, to report annually to the legislature on various cannabis-related issues, such as driving under the influence, cannabis-related arrests, addiction treatment, school suspensions/expulsions, and juvenile offenses.
