This bill appropriates $250,000 from the general fund to the Public Education Department for fiscal year 2023 to enhance six-week summer schools and out-of-school time programming in the Albuquerque metropolitan area. The funding will be used to provide literacy and mathematics enrichment, social-emotional learning, physical wellness and swimming, life and career skills, and individualized tutoring for students from underresourced families in kindergarten through twelfth grade who attend public schools. Participating schools are required to report on the effect of the enhanced funding on academic achievement and student and family engagement by October 1, 2024.
