This bill requires auto glass repair or replacement facilities that work on vehicles equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to inform customers if a recalibration of the ADAS is required and that the recalibration must meet or exceed the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. The bill also prohibits auto glass facilities from representing the repair, replacement, or recalibration costs will be fully covered by the customer's insurance unless that is the case. If the recalibration is not successful or performed, the facility must notify the customer and their insurer. The bill allows facilities to use their own procedures and equipment for the recalibration as long as it meets the manufacturer's specifications, and prohibits facilities from charging for services not performed according to the manufacturer's specifications. Violations of the bill's provisions can result in civil penalties of $2,500.
