This bill repeals the existing minimum wage law in Idaho and replaces it with a new section that establishes a higher minimum wage. Specifically, the bill sets the minimum wage at $10 per hour starting July 1, 2022, and then increases it to $15 per hour starting July 1, 2024. The bill also allows counties and municipalities to set minimum wages higher than the state minimum. Additionally, beginning July 1, 2024, the minimum wage will be adjusted annually based on changes in the consumer price index. The bill also maintains the provision that no employee, including tipped employees, can be paid less than the federal minimum wage.
