This Memorial requests that the New Mexico Department of Agriculture and the Public Education Department form a task force to investigate how pesticides, which are chemicals used to control pests like insects and weeds, are being used in public schools. The task force will be made up of relevant individuals and will examine the effectiveness of ecological pest management practices, which prioritize non-chemical methods, for both indoor and outdoor school environments, considering their advantages and disadvantages. The task force is required to present its findings and suggestions to the governor, the state legislature, and local government officials by November 1, 2022, and copies of this request will be sent to relevant state and local organizations for distribution.
