This bill amends the "Fair Business Practices Act of 1975" in Georgia to require merchants (except for sole proprietors or businesses with only one employee) to accept cash for purchases, unless otherwise permitted by law. It prohibits merchants from discriminating against cash buyers by requiring the use of credit. The bill also requires merchants to provide a store credit for any cash overpayment that they do not have exact change to refund. The bill provides for penalties and damages for violations, and allows for claims to be brought in a representative capacity and as class actions.
