P.L.2013, c.51, the "Human Trafficking Prevention, Protection, and Treatment Act," among other provisions created the Commission on Human Trafficking in the Division of Criminal Justice in the Department of Law and Public Safety; established the "Human Trafficking Survivor's Assistance Fund" to provide services to human trafficking victims, promote awareness of human trafficking, and create certain training and education programs; upgraded penalties for crimes related to human trafficking; and required training programs for law enforcement, hotel and motel staff, employees of health care facilities, judges and judicial personnel concerning human trafficking. This bill would establish an educational program for the general public. Under the bill, the Attorney General would establish an educational and public information program concerning the State and federal crimes of human trafficking. The bill would appropriate $75,000 to the Office of the Attorney General for these purposes.
