This bill proposes to amend the charter of the city known as the town of Agawam to change the term of office of the mayor from 2 years to 4 years, beginning on the first Monday of January 2024. The bill requires that the proposed amendment be submitted to the qualified voters of Agawam at the 2022 regular election, and if a majority of the votes cast are in the affirmative, the 4-year term provision will take effect for the 2022 state election and fully in 2024. The city solicitor is also required to prepare a fair and concise summary of the proposed amendment for the ballot question.
