This bill, the Strengthening Enforcement and Criminalizing Unlawful Records Enabling Flights Act (SECURE Flights Act), would prohibit the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from accepting certain identification documents, such as immigration-related forms, at airport security checkpoints. If an individual presents a prohibited identification document, the TSA administrator must notify immigration enforcement agencies to determine if the individual is in violation of any release terms. The bill also requires the TSA administrator to collect biometric information, such as fingerprints or facial photos, from individuals seeking to enter the sterile area of an airport who do not present a covered identification document (e.g., a U.S. passport or trusted traveler program card) and whose nationality cannot be verified. The collected biometric data would be submitted to the Automated Biometric Identification System.
