Bill Summary

This bill requires the Chief Administrator (chief administrator) of the New Jersey to permit the holder of a validated permit, driver's license, or identification card to voluntarily indicate that the person has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Any person who voluntarily indicates a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder is to be provided with two decals to be placed on a personal vehicle as prescribed by the chief administrator. The person is not required to display the decals on the vehicle.

AI Summary

This bill requires the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) to permit individuals who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder to voluntarily indicate this on their driver's license, permit, or identification card. The MVC will then provide them with two removable, reflective decals to be displayed on their vehicle, though the individual is not required to display the decals. The decals are intended to notify law enforcement that the driver or a passenger may have an autism spectrum disorder.
