This bill establishes a Silver Alert system in Minnesota to aid in the identification, location, and recovery of missing persons who are senior citizens with cognitive impairments such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or traumatic brain injury. The Commissioner of Public Safety is tasked with coordinating with local law enforcement agencies, public and commercial broadcasters, and other stakeholders to develop the criteria and procedures for the system. The bill also provides for oversight and the ability to notify authorities outside of the state, and creates a criminal penalty for making false reports that trigger the alert.
