Bill Summary

This bill clarifies that the driver's license, non-driver identification card, or motor vehicle registration certificate of any active duty member of the Armed Forces of the United States, and any person in the member's immediate family, is to remain valid beyond the expiration date until the earlier of the following dates: (1) 90 days after the date for which active duty service is scheduled to end, as provided on documentation issued by a branch of the Armed Forces of the United States; or (2) 90 days after the person's return to the State. The bill also permits the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to adopt temporary rules and regulations as the chief administrator determines to be necessary to effectuate the purposes of the bill, and 180 days thereafter, amend, adopt, or readopt the rules and regulations in accordance with the requirements of the "Administrative Procedure Act."
