This bill amends the Education Code to require that special election petitions for school district or community college district vacancies include the estimated cost of the special election expressed on a per-pupil or per-student basis. Additionally, the bill changes the timing requirements for holding a special election, requiring it to be conducted not less than 88 nor more than 125 days after the order of the election, with an exception allowing the election to be held within 180 days to consolidate it with a regularly scheduled election. The bill also provides for state reimbursement of any state-mandated local program costs.
