This bill modifies the requirements and scope of practice for licensed acupuncture practitioners in Minnesota. It expands the definition of "acupuncture" to include modern and traditional medical methods, such as "dry needling," "trigger point therapy," and "auricular detox treatment." The bill also broadens the definition of "acupuncture and herbal medicine practice" to include a comprehensive system of primary healthcare using traditional and modern diagnosis and treatment techniques, including acupuncture, herbal therapies, cupping, dietary and nutrition therapies, and other similar modalities. The bill further defines "diagnosis" and "diagnostic services and testing" within the scope of acupuncture and herbal medicine practice. Additionally, it repeals the definition of "Oriental medicine" and makes other amendments to the licensing and practice standards for acupuncture practitioners.
