This bill adds a new chapter to existing law to establish the Patient Visitation Rights Act, which affords patients of certain care facilities, such as hospice houses, hospitals, and nursing facilities, certain visitation rights. The bill states that care facilities cannot restrict a patient's right to in-person visitation, subject to the facility's normal visitation policy. These visitation rights cannot be made more restrictive or terminated, even during a declared disaster or emergency. The bill also prohibits care facilities from requiring patients to waive these visitation rights or imposing restrictions based on a visitor's vaccination status. However, care facilities can require visitors to undergo health screenings and follow infection control procedures.
