This bill requires counties in California to provide additional vote-by-mail ballot drop-off locations on the main campuses of California State University and, upon request, University of California campuses, for statewide primary and general elections. The bill also requires elections officials to give preference to locations on California Community College campuses that will be in session on election day and have an enrollment of at least 10,000 students. These requirements are considered state-mandated local programs, so if the Commission on State Mandates determines there are costs associated with them, the state must reimburse local agencies and school districts for those costs.
