This bill imposes an excise tax on the sale of ammunition, with a 5% tax on ammunition with .22 caliber or less projectiles and a 10% tax on all other ammunition. The revenue collected from this tax will be deposited into the newly created Firearm Violence Intervention Fund, which will be used to fund community-based and hospital-based violence intervention programs that provide counseling, case management, and social services to individuals recovering from or witnessing acts of violence.
