This bill establishes a two-year school breakfast kiosk pilot program in New Jersey. The Department of Agriculture, in consultation with the Department of Education, will develop and administer the program to encourage increased breakfast participation by students in public schools. The program allows school districts to set up breakfast kiosks where students can purchase food items and use available federal reimbursements to subsidize the cost. The Department of Agriculture will review and approve pilot plans submitted by school districts, select three districts to participate (one each in the northern, central, and southern regions of the state), and provide guidance and support to the participating schools. After the two-year pilot, the Department of Agriculture will report on the program's impact, particularly on low-income students.
