Bill Summary

This bill provides that beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year, a State tuition aid grant for a student enrolled in a proprietary institution will be limited to students who received an award prior to that academic year. In effect, the bill initiates a phase-out of State tuition aid grants for students enrolled in proprietary institutions. Students in a proprietary institution who received an award prior to the 2022-2023 academic year will continue to receive an award until they are no longer eligible.

AI Summary

This bill initiates a phase-out of state tuition aid grants for students enrolled in proprietary (for-profit) institutions. Starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, state tuition aid grants will only be available to students who were already receiving such grants prior to that year. These students can continue receiving the grants until they are no longer eligible, but the bill prevents new students at proprietary institutions from receiving state tuition aid grants.
