This bill adds new provisions to existing Idaho law to provide requirements regarding a coronavirus vaccine and religious exemptions, and to allow employees to bring a claim against their employer if their religious exercise is burdened by the denial of a religious exemption request. The bill defines "coronavirus" broadly to include any variants that reach epidemic or pandemic levels. It requires employers to bear the burden of proof that denying a religious exemption request is essential to furthering a compelling interest and is the least restrictive means of doing so. Employees who prevail in a claim against their employer under this law can recover attorney's fees and costs, and are not required to exhaust other legal remedies before bringing a claim.
