This bill establishes the Public Health Information and Communications Advisory Committee to provide recommendations and reports on the communication and dissemination of scientific and evidence-based public health information during public health emergencies, including addressing misinformation. The bill also directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award assistance for the development of evidence-based initiatives to promote fact-based public health and medical science information to the public and educate the public on how to identify misinformation and disinformation. The bill authorizes $45 million per year from 2023 to 2027 to carry out these provisions.
