This bill directs the Department of Education, in consultation with the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education, to establish a multimedia advertising campaign to attract candidates to the teaching profession. The campaign will promote the teaching profession as an engaging, dynamic, and rewarding career opportunity. The campaign is required to use a combination of digital outlets, television, radio, print, and other media for its purposes. The department, in developing and administering the general advertising campaign, is also required to create targeted advertising to increase the recruitment of teachers: (1) from underrepresented racial groups; and (2) into high-demand fields, including special education, teaching careers in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field, and any other high-demand fields identified by the Commissioner of Education. The bill appropriates to the Department of Education the sum of $1,000,000 from the funds received by the State under the federal "American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act," Pub.L.117-2 to effectuate the provisions of the bill.
