This bill makes several changes to marriage record provisions in Minnesota: 1. It allows the state or local registrar to amend or correct marriage records when provided with a notarized request and supporting documentation from both parties to the marriage, or from one party if the other is unavailable. It requires the registrar to document any amendments made to the marriage record. 2. It removes the requirement for detailed personal information on the marriage certificate to be reported to the state registrar, and instead allows the state registrar to determine the format and frequency of reports on the number of marriage certificates registered. 3. It adjusts the fees for certified marriage records, uncertified marriage records, and letters of no record, allowing the local registrar to charge up to $25 for the first certified copy and up to $9 for any additional copies or an uncertified record. 4. It adds the requirement for the marriage certificate to include the parties' dates of birth, in addition to their full names before and after the marriage. 5. It requires the marriage certificate to be provided by the local registrar, rather than prepared by the person solemnizing the marriage.
