This bill amends a law to prohibit the transport of certain items, such as furniture, mattresses, and other similar items, by motor vehicle on roads under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation with a speed limit of 50 miles per hour or faster, or any roads under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority or the South Jersey Transportation Authority. The bill sets standards for securely fastening and covering these types of loads to prevent them from becoming dislodged and falling onto the road. It also empowers the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to adopt rules and regulations to enforce these new requirements.
