This bill requires State agencies in New Jersey to update their demographic data collection methods to include more detailed categories for Asian, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian and Indian Diaspora residents. It mandates the use of separate collection categories and tabulations for various ethnic subgroups within these broader categories, and also requires the collection and reporting of data on primary language spoken at home and ethnic group or ancestry. The data collected must be made publicly available on the agencies' websites, except for personal identifying information, to help local governments, elected officials, and other stakeholders better understand the needs and experiences of these diverse communities.
