This bill requires State government entities that provide direct services to the public to translate vital documents and information into at least the seven most common non-English languages spoken by individuals with limited-English proficiency in New Jersey, based on U.S. Census data. The bill also requires these entities to provide interpretation services between the entity and an individual in that person's primary language with respect to the provision of services or benefits. Each entity must develop and publish a language access plan detailing how it will comply with the provisions of the bill. The bill also tasks the Commissioner of Human Services, Attorney General, and Chief Technology Officer with providing guidance to the entities and their language access coordinators in implementing the bill's requirements.
