This bill, the National Opportunity to Restore Uranium Supply Services In America Act of 2022 or the NO RUSSIA Act of 2022, requires the Secretary of Energy to establish a national strategic uranium reserve to ensure the availability of domestically produced and converted uranium in the event of a supply disruption. The bill aims to address domestic nuclear fuel supply chain gaps and deficiencies, support strategic nuclear fuel supply chain capabilities in the United States, and eliminate reliance on Russian uranium. The Secretary is also required to establish a program to ensure the availability of uranium produced, converted, and enriched in the United States, excluding uranium from entities owned or controlled by the governments of Russia or China.
