This bill, the Protecting American Capital Act of 2022, requires the Secretary of the Treasury to submit an annual report to Congress on portfolio investments by U.S. persons (including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and entities organized in the U.S.) in the People's Republic of China. The report must assess the involvement of these U.S. persons in such investments, including the types of U.S. persons, the Chinese entities receiving the investments, and any Chinese entities subject to U.S. sanctions that are receiving such investments. The report must cover the period from January 1, 2008, to the date of the first report, and then the one-year period preceding each subsequent report.
