This bill establishes an education benefit for dependents of disabled veterans in Minnesota. To be eligible, the person must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree or certificate program at a state-operated or University of Minnesota institution and be the dependent child of a veteran with a total (100%) and permanent disability or a disability rating of 70% or more. The award covers 100% of tuition, fees, and books after subtracting other grants and scholarships for the former category, and 50% for the latter. This benefit does not affect the recipient's eligibility for a state grant. The institution must request payment from the Office of Higher Education on behalf of the enrolled student.
