This bill amends the tax law in New York to impose an eight and one-half percent tax on all combative sport event ticket sales, including professional or amateur boxing, sparring, or wrestling matches or exhibitions, as well as other authorized combative sports. The bill also imposes an eight and one-half percent tax on the gross receipts from broadcasting rights and digital streaming of these events, with a cap of $50,000 for any match or exhibition. The purpose of this bill is to create tax parity by applying the same tax rate to all combative sport events in the state.
