This bill authorizes the presentation of a Congressional Gold Medal, collectively, to the individuals and communities who volunteered or donated items to the North Platte Canteen in North Platte, Nebraska, during World War II from December 25, 1941, to April 1, 1946. The North Platte Canteen was a large volunteer effort that boosted morale by providing free food and entertainment to approximately 6 million U.S. troops traveling across the country. The bill also directs the Secretary of the Treasury to strike the gold medal and make it available for display at the Lincoln County Historical Museum in North Platte, Nebraska. Additionally, the bill authorizes the Secretary to strike and sell duplicate bronze medals to cover the costs of producing the medals.
