This bill, the Stopping Home Office Work's Unproductive Problems (SHOW UP) Act of 2022, requires executive agencies to reinstate their pre-pandemic telework policies and practices within 30 days of enactment. The bill also requires agencies to submit a study to Congress on the impacts of expanded telework during the COVID-19 pandemic, including any adverse effects on agency performance and mission, costs related to underutilized real estate or higher locality pay for remote workers, and the extent to which teleworking employees were provided with necessary secure network access and equipment. Agencies must then submit a plan to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for any future expansion of telework policies, which the OPM Director must certify will have a positive impact on agency performance, increase workforce dispersal, reduce real estate costs, and ensure teleworkers have necessary resources. The bill aims to limit and review the use of telework by federal agencies after the pandemic.
