This bill authorizes the use of body imaging scanning equipment in correctional facilities throughout New York state in connection with the implementation of a facility's security program, subject to certain regulations and limitations. The bill requires the Department of Health to promulgate regulations governing the use of such equipment, including requirements for training of unlicensed personnel, limitations on exposure levels for inmates, registration and inspection of the equipment, and record-keeping. The bill also requires the Department of Corrections to submit annual reports on the utilization of the equipment in correctional facilities. The bill will take effect 120 days after it becomes law and will expire and be repealed five years after the effective date.
