This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Education (DOE) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to establish online reporting systems for schools and child care centers to submit the results of any lead testing they have conducted on their drinking water. The bill also requires schools and child care centers that were previously required to test for lead to submit or resubmit their test results through the new online systems, and for the DOE and DCF to compile and publish the test results on their websites. Additionally, the bill requires the DOE and DCF, in consultation with the Department of Environmental Protection, to prepare and submit a report to the Governor and Legislature within two years, outlining the extent of lead contamination in school and child care center drinking water, the need for assistance with remediation, and recommendations for state assistance.
