This bill, the Advanced Border Coordination Act of 2022, establishes Joint Operations Centers (Centers) along the southern border of the United States. The Centers will serve as unified coordination hubs where law enforcement from multiple federal, state, local, and tribal agencies can collaborate on various border-related matters, such as deterring and detecting criminal activity, coordinating operations, and sharing information. The bill requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to set up at least two such Centers within 6 months of the bill's enactment and mandates annual reporting to Congress on the Centers' operations, resources, and any identified coordination and communication gaps between participating agencies.
