Bill Summary

Requires cannabis product to be stored or kept secured in a locked container. A violation shall subject the person to a civil penalty of not less than $250 for each violation. The provisions of this bill do not apply to cannabis product in the process of manufacture or being transported or used as permitted by P.L.2021, c.16 (C.24:6I-31 et al.), the "New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement, Assistance and Marketplace Modernization Act." The act of contains specific regulations for delivery of cannabis items and related supplies. The bill defines "cannabis product" as a product containing usable cannabis, cannabis extract, or any other cannabis resin and other ingredients intended for human consumption or use, including a product intended to be applied to the skin or hair, edible cannabis products, ointments, and tinctures. "Cannabis product" does not include: (1) usable cannabis by itself; (2) cannabis extract by itself; or (3) any other cannabis resin by itself.
