This bill establishes the Improving Digital Identity Task Force to develop secure methods for government agencies to improve access and enhance security between physical and digital identity credentials. The Task Force will assess restrictions on agencies' ability to verify identities, recommend a standards-based architecture for secure and interoperable digital identity verification, and identify funding and resources needed to support such services. The bill also requires the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to issue guidance to federal agencies on implementing the Task Force's recommendations and to report on federal agencies' progress in improving digital identity verification capabilities. Additionally, the bill requires a GAO report on the potential savings from increased adoption of digital identification.
