This bill, the Next Generation Fuels Act of 2022, aims to promote the use of low-carbon, high-octane fuels, protect public health, and improve vehicle efficiency and performance. It amends the Clean Air Act to add a new part requiring manufacturers of model year 2027 and later vehicles to design their vehicles to use gasoline with a minimum 95 research octane number, and model year 2032 and later vehicles to use gasoline with a minimum 98 research octane number.
