This bill amends the Social Services Law to increase the standards of monthly need and home energy grant amounts for persons receiving public assistance. Specifically, it increases the standard of monthly need and maximum monthly grants and allowances for public assistance recipients starting July 1, 2022, and requires these amounts to be annually increased based on the current cost of living adjustments determined by the federal Social Security Administration. The bill also increases the monthly home energy grant amounts for eligible individuals and families starting July 1, 2022, and requires these amounts to be annually adjusted as well.
