This Joint Resolution officially designates October 11th of each year as "Perimenopause Day" in New Jersey. Perimenopause is the natural transitional period leading up to menopause, characterized by a gradual decline in ovary function and estrogen production, which can cause a variety of symptoms like irregular periods, hot flashes, mood changes, and sleep problems. The resolution aims to raise awareness about this often misunderstood stage of life, combat stigma and misinformation, and support women experiencing its effects by highlighting available management options. The Governor is also empowered to issue annual proclamations encouraging the observance of this day with appropriate activities.
