This bill modifies the recommended model core academic curriculum content standards for health education in Michigan. It requires that the content standards and guidelines provide instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for students in grades 7-12, as well as instruction on the use of first aid response kits containing specific items like tourniquets and bleeding control dressings. The bill outlines specific requirements for the CPR and first aid training, including the use of hands-on practice for students physically able to participate. It also exempts fully online schools from the requirement to incorporate the psychomotor skills training. The bill amends Section 1170a of the Revised School Code of 1976.
