This bill, the Safe Access to Cash Act of 2022, establishes new criminal offenses related to violations involving Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). The bill amends Chapter 103 of Title 18 of the United States Code to create a new section, 2113A, which criminalizes the use of force, violence, or intimidation to take or attempt to take property from a person using, loading cash into, or servicing an ATM, or from an ATM owner or their contractor while transporting or delivering cash to an ATM. The bill also criminalizes willfully breaking into, tampering with, damaging, removing, or stealing from an ATM. Additionally, the bill enhances the existing penalties in Section 2113 of Title 18 to apply to the new offenses created in Section 2113A.
