This bill amends the Texas Election Code to establish new campaign contribution limits for candidates running for statewide office or the state legislature, as well as for specific-purpose committees supporting or opposing those candidates. Specifically, it limits individual contributions to $5,000 and political committee contributions to $10,000 per election. The bill also reduces the contribution limit for general-purpose committees to judicial candidates from $25,000 to $10,000 for statewide judicial offices. The changes apply only to contributions made on or after the effective date of the bill, which is the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.
