This bill amends the Federal Ocean Acidification Research And Monitoring Act of 2009 to require the Secretary of Commerce, acting through the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), to collaborate with state and local governments and Indian tribes on vulnerability assessments related to ocean acidification, research planning, and similar activities. It establishes an ongoing mechanism for NOAA to engage with affected industry members, stakeholders, non-federal resource managers, community acidification networks, indigenous knowledge groups, and scientific experts to provide input on necessary research, data, and monitoring. The bill also directs NOAA to build upon existing activities and collaborate with state, local, and tribal governments on vulnerability assessments, research planning, and other similar efforts related to ocean and coastal acidification, in order to support collaborative relationships and information sharing, and assist these governments in improving their systems and programs to address these issues.
