This bill amends the Texas Education Code to require ethnic studies, including Mexican American and African American studies, as part of the foundation curriculum in public schools. It also adds an ethnic studies course, including Mexican American or African American studies, as one of the social studies credits required for the foundation high school program. The bill applies to students entering the 9th grade during the 2024-2025 school year or later, with prior requirements remaining in effect for students in higher grades during that year.
