This bill creates a new fund-raising registration plate for sickle cell anemia research and treatment in Michigan. The bill directs the Secretary of State to develop and issue this new plate in coordination with the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Michigan Chapter. The bill also creates the Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness Fund within the state treasury, which will receive the donation money from the sale of these plates, and requires the state treasurer to disburse the funds to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Michigan Chapter, on a quarterly basis. Additionally, the bill repeals Section 811aa of the Michigan Vehicle Code, which previously established a different fund-raising plate.
