This bill, known as the "Save Women's Sports Act," establishes guidelines for student participation in athletic contests organized by biological sex. It requires public and private schools, as well as postsecondary educational institutions, to designate their athletic teams as either for males, females, or coed/mixed. The bill mandates students or their parents to sign affidavits acknowledging the student's biological sex at birth. It prohibits students of the male sex from participating in athletic teams designated for females, and provides legal recourse for students who are deprived of athletic opportunities or suffer harm as a result of such violations. The bill also protects schools and institutions from adverse action by state education agencies or athletic organizations for maintaining female-only sports teams.
